Who we are

How the Collective studies business law.

TCLC provides a structured, practical business-law curriculum built to help students understand the legal principles that govern commercial activity. Sessions are interactive: members work applied case problems, take opposing positions, and defend a recommendation out loud.

Open to UT students of all majors. No prior legal coursework is expected.

The program

What the curriculum covers

The curriculum moves from vocabulary to judgment, then widens out to the parts of the legal system that shape the commercial world.

Pillar01

Business-law foundations

Build a working vocabulary for the legal principles that shape organizations, agreements, and commercial activity.

Pillar02

Applied legal analysis

Move from doctrine to judgment through interactive sessions and case problems drawn from decisions businesses actually face.

Pillar03

Broader legal perspective

Learn from faculty and practitioners whose work connects corporate questions to public, constitutional, and international law.

Guest perspective

The future of the constitution

February 18, 2026

UT Law Professor Richard Albert joined TCLC for a seminar and Q&A on constitutional design, including his experience advising Jamaica on the creation of a new republic constitution.
